St. George's Food Pantry & Sonshine Drop-in

In the basement of the church (down the ramp on Fitzgerald Avenue), St. George's holds both a Food Pantry where people can pick up groceries (Tuesday & Thursday) and a Drop-In where people can get out of the rain, grab a coffee, and get to know other people.

If you would like to make a donation to the pantry in the way of food or funds, or you would like to volunteer at either of these ministries please contact St. George’s Office.

The St. George's food pantry provides food for those in need. Over 1500 bags of food are handed out each year. 40% of clients only come once, but there has been a gradual increase over the past couple of years. There is also coffee and cookies each week, and many just come for a warm place and conversation with our dedicated volunteers. Prayer is also offered by request.

For the truly homeless we are a necessary refuge in unpleasant weather and can give two hours of comfort and conversation which are unlikely to be found elsewhere until a daytime shelter is available. We receive many thank-yous, God Bless You for your kindness and Prayers are said for St. George’s from clients.

We continue to receive monetary and volunteer support from Comox United Church and Grace Lutheran Church. Youth For Christ and Cumberland Boy Scouts have also had food drives in the past to assist with our donations.
