Do you love mass choir music? How about fiery Cuban music at the same event? Safehaven Refugee Sponsorship Group and Wendy Nixon Stothert, the regional director of the BC Choral Federation, are pleased to announce the 3rd annual Choral Musaic Event. This fundraising concert, commemorating National Music Monday, will feature 5 choirs including 2 children’s choirs. Also performing will be Sweet SanteFe, a Cuban Canadian duo. Their songs are authentic, their rhythmic blends are rich, giving their audiences a fresh and infectious experience.
This special event is on Monday May 14th, at 7PM (doors open at 6:30), at the new venue of Christ the King Catholic Church located at 1599 Tunner Drive off the Back Rd. in Courtenay. Admission is by donation at the door with proceeds going to Cuban Hurricane Relief and to Safehaven Refugee Sponsorship Group for overseas relief of a Gov’t approved Syrian family of 7 that has been waiting over 2 years now, to come to the Comox Valley.
The choirs will each perform individually and then unite their voices in a mass number, Yemaya Asesu, a traditional Cuban folk song.
