~ Long Term Partnership OPportunity ~

For many years, St. George’s has partnered with the Sonshine Lunch Club to provide daily lunches for people who are marginalized, of low income, or who are just seeking community and a good meal. Later this year, the Sonshine Lunch Club will be moving to a new location so that, by early fall 2026, the space in the Fellowship Hall will be available for new renters, either to partner with the church or to offer an independent program. If this is of interest to your organization, please read on:

St. George’s United Church in Courtenay is welcoming proposals for weekday use of its 2,300 square foot Fellowship Hall. Adjacent to the hall are a 380 square foot kitchen and well-maintained washrooms. St. George’s is centrally located at the corner of Fitzgerald Avenue and 6th Street.

Some particulars:
·         The church does not insist that the renter be a church group but would hope that the renter would be compatible with the ethos and mission of the church.
·         Our preference is for weekday, daytime programming, but there could be some flexibility.
·         The church is very open to partnerships between the church and a not-for-profit group.
·         The church is open to programs for disadvantaged or vulnerable people as long as trained staff are available.
·         The church is open to one tenant or multiple tenants: that is, one who will use the space every weekday or several tenants who will have programs that run on different days and at different times.

Examples of programs that might use the church’s space:
·         Community kitchen
·         Drop-in that serves people who are isolated
·         After school programs
·         Fitness classes
·         Craft or art groups
