The Sonshine Lunch Club Soup Kitchen HAs MOVED

Monday-Friday, 11:30am-12:30pm at the Salvation army (1580 Fitzgerald Avenue)

After nearly three decades, the Sonshine Lunch Club Soup Kitchen has moved from St. George’s to the Salvation Army’s new church & family services building (1580 Fitzgerald Avenue). They are hosting their nutritious, home made soup and sandwiches M-F 11:30-12:30 as usual. St. George’s “day” is still Wednesdays, with our team led by Wayne and Louise Smiley. You can still financially contribute to the Lunch Club through St. George’s. If you are interested in volunteering, contact the church office or speak to Wayne or Louise Smiley.

The Sonshine Lunch Club has operated out of St. George's Fellowship Hall and Kitchen since 1999. The group seeks to personally share the love of Christ with others by providing a free warm lunch to clients and encouragement five days a week in a welcoming atmosphere. In addition to providing lunches, we provide clothing, blankets, shoes, books and other items to our clients. Each day is hosted by a different church group:

Monday - Society of St. Vincent de Paul (Roman Catholic Church)
Tuesday - Salvation Army
Wednesday - St. George’s (United Church)
Thursday - St. John the Divine (Anglican Church)
Friday - Bay Community Church (4th Friday Evangelical Free)

No one is turned away from our door, and we warmly welcome all. We are open even on stat holidays. Our clients are families with children, teenagers and adults of all ages. Some of the regulars come from as far away as Royston and Black Creek. Our program is well known far beyond these boundaries, and we regularly get people who are just passing through the Valley.
